National CASA/GAL Volunteer’s Day Virtual Celebration
May 18, 2021 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
To acknowledge the commitment, time, and compassion of CASA/GAL volunteers, the National
CASA/GAL Association for Children is partnering with FosterStrong to host the first-ever, CASA/GAL
Volunteer’s Day. FosterStrong is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering current and former
foster youth and changing the negative narrative surrounding foster care. CASA/GAL Volunteer’s Day, which will be observed on May 18, provides an opportunity for Franklin County CASA to honor and thank CASA/GAL volunteers who work hard to ensure Franklin County and Gasconade County children and youth, who have been placed in foster care as a result of experiencing abuse or neglect, have their voices heard every day. On this day, our network of 948 state organizations and local programs across the nation will recognize their volunteers through various social media channels to show their appreciation. This day also gives the residents of Franklin and Gasconade Counties the chance to better understand the critical role a CASA/GAL volunteer plays in the lives of young people, and inspire others to contribute their time to support children who may be in/or at-risk of child welfare involvement. On May 18, members of Congress will recognize CASA/GAL Volunteer’s Day on Capitol Hill, and National CASA/GAL and FosterStrong will host a virtual celebration for all CASA/GAL volunteers.
