National CASA Webinar: Creating a Gender-Inclusive Environment in Child Welfare Systems

Presented by Human Rights Campaign Foundation. There are between 1.5 to 2 times as many LGBTQ youth living in foster care as LGBTQ youth living outside of foster care. LGBTQ youth have a higher average number of foster care placements and are more likely to be living in a group home. Understanding the prevalence of children in the child welfare system who are LGBTQ youth and how to advocate for the needs of this population will be considered during the webinar. You will learn about transgender inclusion, including gender identity and expression, transgender, non-binary and gender-expansive identities and experiences; learn ways to create a gender-inclusive agency environment through policy and practice change; and explore language and behaviors that are welcoming and affirming to youth and adults with diverse gender identities and expressions.
